Etienne Ginot Alexandre Glazounow was born in Saint Petersburg in 1865 and died in Paris in 1936. His master was Rimsky-Korsakoff and he is considered the last representative of the great Russian school of the 19th century. He had a triumphant start with his first symphony in 1882 when he was just 17 years old. He has written 8 symphonies, 3 ballets, 7 symphonic poems, many overtures and fantasies for orchestra, 6 string quartets, a concerto for violin, 2 for piano as week as instrumental pieces and sonatas. His style is of rare nobility and great depth.
