Work & Edition Details
This edition is the result of Harald Vogel’s many years of practice as an organist and musicologist. The music text is based on a reevaluation of 17th- and 18th-century manuscripts containing the free organ and keyboard works by Buxtehude. The manual works presented in volume II (EB 9306) are pieces that could be played on domestic clavier instruments as well as on smaller and larger church organs. They are therefore part of a common repertoire for organs, harpsichords and clavichords. In addition to the music, this volume includes a preface and a detailed Critical Report in German. The latter provides information on the ornaments, the sources and deviations from the sources (Individual Notes). It also offers a Commentary to the Individual Notes, including practical performance advice. The English Critical Report is provided as a download on our website.
