« … Là où finit le métier, l'Art commence… » "... Where craft ends, Art begins..." César Franck's student, the composer Vincent d'Indy (1851-1931) was a major figure in the French artistic world of the 19th century. In addition to his activity as a composer, he was also a pianist, conductor, renowned pedagogue and co-founder of the Société Nationale de Musique and the Schola Cantorum. His sources of inspiration are mainly nature, travels, French folklore, but also ancient and baroque music which he will largely contribute to restore. This Cantate Domino is a delightful and joyful piece, especially lively thanks to the alternation between a joyful refrain and the verses. In this arrangement by Pierre Calmelet, this work is accessible to all choirs, especially those lacking in male voices, who will be able to celebrate an almost unnoticed double anniversary by performing it!
