Work & Edition Details
Commissioned by Alain Meunier, this second string quartet is the imposed of the Bordeaux Cordes International Country Competition 2003. Alive is in the line of my first quartet in strings, vivere, and thus prolongs my work on writing the ropes focused on energy and movement. This title refers to a poem by Emily Dickinson exalting the power of life ;: "To be alive is power existence in itself Without A Further Function omnipotencence enough " (Being alive is a force, The existence in itself, Without other function, sufficient omnipotent) In addition to the existential dimension of these verses, they are also the expression of this jubilation of the writing which underlies my current approach.
