Work & Edition Details
Transcription for 4 Bb Clarinets. The Tango was born in Buenos-Aires in 1882. The first instruments to play it were the guitar and the flute. Thereafter, there is the piano then the bandoneon. It is music full of grace and liveliness: it gives the image of good humor, the faconde of French, Italian and Spanish women who live in these brothels. Tango is a cheerful music form. - Café 1930: This is another time of Tango. We stop dancing it as in 1900 and we are now content to listen to it - it becomes more musical, more romantic too. It is a radical transformation: slower movement, new harmonies, a lot of melancholy. The tango orchestras consist of two violins, two bandones, a piano and a bass. We sometimes sing. - Night-Club 1960 This period during which international exchanges are considerably increasing, sees a new development: Brazil and Argentina are found in Buenos- Areas. - Bossa Nova and New Tango, "same fight". The public runs through the night clubs to listen to it seriously the new tango. Revolution, deep upheaval of certain forms of old tango. - Concert today Tango's music joins, by certain concepts, new music. Réminiscences de Bartok, Stravinsky and a few others against a background of Tango. It is today's tango, the tango of the future ...
