Note on Percussion 1:

This part is, in the main, though not exclusively, an improvising 'hand drum' part and is marked djembe in the score where applicable. However, the player has various options and, instead, may use the following: 'goblet' drum (eg darabuca), congas, or may even assemble a multi-percussion station that employs a variety of instruments. This would be preferable in order to bring some variety to the instrumentation.
