Der Notentext der Strauß-Gesamtausgabe von 1974 zur Operette Die Fledermaus basiert auf allen relevanten historischen Quellen und räumt dabei einige massive Fehler früherer Ausgaben beiseite. Das Ergebnis ist ein frappant entschlackter, duftiger, fast schon mit Understatement daherkommender Strauß. Das Aufführungsmaterial ist ein Muss für alle Orchester, die die wahrscheinlich meist gespielte Operettenouvertüre überhaupt mit authentisch edierten Noten darbieten wollen.
The 1974 Strauss Complete-Edition music text of the operetta The Bat, based on all the relevant historical sources, clears away as such some of the massive errors of earlier editions. The result is a strikingly purified, airy, almost understated Strauss. The new performance material is a must for all orchestras wanting to produce from an authentically edited score what is probably the most frequently performed operetta overture ever.
