Work & Edition Details
Mozart's fifth and final concerto for solo violin and orchestra is sometimes dubbed his "Turkish Concerto" due to the character of the minor-key passages in the third movement. It appears here in an edition for violin with piano reduction, featuring cadenzas composed by Henri Marteau.
Mozarts 5 Violinkonzerte sind 1775 in Salzburg entstanden, als er dort als Fürstbischöflicher Konzertmeister angestellt war. Allen Konzerten gemeinsam ist die Dreisätzigkeit und die Orchesterbesetzung aus Streichern mit hinzugefügten Oboen- und Hörnerpaaren. Das 5. Konzert Kv 219 gilt als das ausgereifteste.
