Dark Brother, eine Vertonung der letzten beiden Absätze aus Thomas Wolfes God’s Lonely Man, war das erste Stück, das Partch speziell für sein selbst entwickeltes Chromelodeon schrieb. Die Stimme für Chromelodeon betont den Tonality flux – Partchs Begriff für sein Stimmführungsverfahren mittels Auflösung kleiner Intervalle sowie schneller Passagen mit sehr kleinen Intervallen, die das harmonische Geschehen verschleiern. Diese beiden Techniken wurden zu Merkmalen von Partchs Musik für Chromelodeon überhaupt.
