The “blue land” around the Staffelsee in the Upper Bavarian Alpine foothills, between Murnau and the Loisachtal, shines in enchanted shades of a wonderful blue, especially in autumn: the mountains are sharply contoured one behind the other and naturally lead the view into the distance. Here the painters of the “Blue Rider” wrote art history. Dorothea Hofmann was inspired by the fascinating landscape and wrote the sonata “In the Blue Mountains” for flute quartet. Moderately difficult.
