Work & Edition Details
Johann Sebastian Bach's Air from Orchestra Suite No. (WV 1068) is probably one of his most famous pieces ever. In the present arrangement, one voice (4) has been added. To make the beautiful movement more accessible to brass players, a major third has been transposed downward. The repetition of the 2nd part can be omitted as needed. Among the most popular slow pieces from the Baroque period is without doubt George Frideric Handel's Largo or Larghetto from the opera Xerxes. Here the original key has been retained, as it can be mastered deliberately by brass players. Both pieces are especially suitable for ceremonial purposes and as encores.
