Work & Edition Details
It is not only with regard to the instrumentation that the string quintet Sonanzen (a play on the words 'consonance' and 'dissonance') follows the famous example of Schubert, and even Wagner's Tristan is present in the form of quotes to express a classic music of love and farewell. Taking Hölderlin's 'Wie der Zwist der Liebenden sind die Dissonanzen der Welt' as a motto, the work has been composed as an 'attempt at the impossible dream of love – and its transcendence'.
