20 unaccompanied études by nineteenth-century French composer, virtuoso violinist and music teacher Charles Dancla, transcribed for viola by Reiner Schmidt.
With their diversity and range of expression, the twenty Etudes brillantes are excellently suited for working not only on technique but also artistic interpretation and performance. They have been transposed down a fifth for use on the viola to keep the techniques the same; fingering has however been adapted to modern usage and to the practicalities of the viola. Suitable for advanced violists.

Die zwanzig Etudes brillantes eignen sich mit ihrer Vielfältigkeit und breit gefächerten Ausdruckspalette hervorragend, um nicht nur an der Technik, sondern auch an der künstlerischen Interpretation und Darbietung zu arbeiten. Die für Geige komponierten Etüden wurden für die Bratsche eine Quinte tiefer gesetzt, um eine reibungslose Spieltechnik zu gewährleisten; die Fingersätze wurden modernisiert und den praktischen Gegebenheiten der Bratsche angepasst. Geeignet für Fortgeschrittene.
