Work & Edition Details
Official anthem of the European universities, Gaudeamus Igitur, is a student song, originally entitled De brevitate vitae (On the brevity of life). It is believed that it was Johann Christian Grüntaus who set it to music in 1717. Harmonized by Rafael Sánchez Mombiedro, this version was released in 2008, at the solemn inauguration of director Zubin Metha as Doctor Honoris Causa at the Polytechnic University of Valencia, Spain.
