Work & Edition Details
The piece was formed through a collaboration between composer Kirsty Devaney and writer Poppy Akers. We began by discussing common stories told around the theme of "night": a nocturnal city landscape, a deserted country scene. We decided to do something different and focus on Night in Suburbia. The lyrics and music reflect the monotony of returning to a suburban home, a place where nothing happens, a place you know better than any other. First performed on 5th March 2014 by Soprano Sophie Pullen and the Coull Quartet at Warwick Arts Centre.
