Work & Edition Details
Anything written for two pianos 4 hands makes transcribing for the above mentioned ‘favourite combination’ a grateful task. With four staves, there is an abundance of material to choose from. The Jamaican rumba for two pianos, the arrangement which I used for my transcription, is the composer’s own of the original version for orchestra dating from 1938. For the rumba and the accompanying ‘Jamaican song’, Benjamin received a free barrel of rum a year by the Jamaican government as thanks for making their country known.
