Work & Edition Details
As an admirer of Ravel's Valses Nobles et Sentimentales (who isn't?) I wanted to do something similar: this is the result. Ideally the piece should be performed complete but each waltz can also be played separately (especially, perhaps the final 'gymnopedie'). The 'paired-down' style of the Ravel (so deceptively clear on the page, so hard to bring off convincingly) has helped me find a similar way of writing for piano (my own instrument).
