Work & Edition Details
Svendsen's Romance in G (Op. 26) for viola and piano (orginally for violin and orchestra). When Johan Severin Svendsen composed his Romance in two days in the autumn of 1881 at the suggestion of his publisher, he probably had no idea that he was creating his most internationally popular work. The Romance appeared in almost 70 different printed editions during Svendsen's lifetime and is one of the most popular works in the Romantic repertoire.
Johan Severin Svendsens „Romanze“ in G-Dur op. 26 wurde von Semjon und Bella Kalinowsky für Bratsche und Klavier bearbeitet. Ursprünglich entstand das Werk für Violine und Orchester. Die Solostimme wurde herausgegeben Ludwig Schuster. Als Svendsen im Herbst 1881 auf Anregung seines Verlegers seine Romanze in zwei Tagen komponierte, ahnte er wohl nicht, dass er damit sein international populärstes Werk schuf. Die Romanze erschien zu Lebzeiten Svendsens in fast 70 verschiedenen Druckausgaben und ist eines der beliebtesten Werke des romantischen Repertoires.
