Work & Edition Details
My Rigoletto Fantasy is dedicated to my friend cellist-conductor Mats Rondin, one of the most gifted musicians Sweden has ever produced. As a cellist he was formidable and fearless, possessing an immaculate technique in combination with great passion, sensitivity and musical intelligence. Mats's passing at the age of 54 in 2014, a husband and father of three children, at the height of his career, is something I have yet to come to terms with. As a person Mats was generous and kind. On the platform, when he appreciated something you did with the music, phrasin or a slide, he would look over at you with eyes full of warmth and tenderness. That is how I shall remember him.
