Work & Edition Details
Beethoven's Piano Sonata No. 8 in C minor, Op. 13, more commonly known as "Pathétique", is considered one of his greatest works. The autograph manuscript is lost, and only a few sketches have survived. For this new Urtext edition by Johannes Fischer, the first edition (Franz Anton Hoffmeister, Vienna 1799) was consulted as the authoritative source, thoroughly checked and compared with subsequent editions, alongside a large number of early reprints by other publishers. Beautifully bound and with critical commentary in German and English, this edition is designed for the needs of the practical performer.
Musik zwischen Pathos und Leidenschaft das ist die Sonate Pathétique in c-Moll. Das Autograph zu Beethovens Opus 13 ist verschollen, und nur wenige Skizzen sind erhalten. Für die vorliegende Neuausgabe wurde die Erstausgabe (Franz Anton Hoffmeister, Wien 1799) als maßgebliche Quelle konsultiert, gründlich überprüft und mit ihren Folgeauflagen verglichen.Auch eine Vielzahl von frühen Nachdrucken anderer Verleger wurde durchgesehen. Die vorliegende Ausgabe berücksichtigt Beethovens typische Differenzierungen des Staccatozeichens. Einzelheiten, die von der Erstausgabe abweichen, sind im Revisionsbericht genannt.
