Work & Edition Details
With the “Bat”, the first operetta has been added to the Breitkopf & Härtel stage catalog – a better start is hard to imagine. The score of the Johann Strauß Complete Edition provided a solid basis, taking into account all relevant historical sources and correcting some massive errors in earlier editions. In addition, there is a new piano vocal score, which in many places is closer to Strauss’ orchestral writing than previous editions, making it even more suitable for rehearsals. As “bonus material,” the new “Bat” includes the true first edition of the “New Csárdás,” composed by Strauss later on, which all Rosalinde performers will be eagerly anticipating.
