"On June 2nd, 2014 Bas Andriessen uploaded a heartbreaking encounter between Misha Mengelberg and ICP bassist Ernst Glerum’s daughter Emily Glerum during an ICP meeting in Bimhuis Amsterdam. This duet, between an old man eaten by Alzheimer and a young, playful, innocent girl was the most pure music I’ve hear in years. Bas coined it ‘afterparty’ so this piece, written for the Gaudeamus competition (that Misha won in 1961) is ‘after afterparty’. Shambling emerge refers to the shy attendance of Emily in the video, and is an anagram of Misha Mengelberg." - Aart Strootman, 2017
