Work & Edition Details
The sometimes perverse, but always intriguing antics of the author’s two cats inspired Cat Tales, a suite of three short movements. The piece begins with The Pant Leg Polka, the little figure-eight dance cats do around a person’s legs. The human is in danger of falling, but the cat invariably escapes. Then on to A Place in the Sun, a testimony to the fact that if there is only one sunny spot in the whole room, that’s where you’ll find the cat. Kitten on the Keyboard recalls an event all too familiar to cat owners. Just as the person finishes a work on the computer, the cat just happens to wander over the keyboard, with fatal results.
