Work & Edition Details
Interval was written for and first performed by the Bristol Pre-Conservatoire Choir, directed by John Bacon. It is a setting of an Edward Thomas poem written in 1914. The opening melodic ideas use phrases derived from different versions of the same four notes, creating a sense of a swirling stillness.
