Work & Edition Details
In a departure from Bruckner's last two symphonies, the Seventh not infrequently exhibits an almost cheerfully festive mood, based on the catchiness of its themes and motifs, as well as the waltz and Ländler touches in the Scherzo. Moreover, the Seventh shows the mature master who has all musical means at his disposal, from the richest, most colorful harmony, to the consummate contrapuntal work, to the masterful unmistakably Brucknerian orchestration. All this opened the door for the symphony to wide musically interested circles.
