Work & Edition Details
The text of the cantata is based on stanzas 4 and 5 of the German Te Deum by Martin Luther. It is therefore suitable for performance in church services at all festive times of the church year. Only a few compositions by Vincent Lübeck, highly famous and revered among the church musicians of his main place of activity in Hamburg, have survived. His vocal compositions are in the tradition of Heinrich Schütz.
