Work & Edition Details
The three piano trios op. 6/1, op. 6/2 and op. 85 are composed in a cycle form invented by the composer: The pieces always consist of a slow first movement and a fast second movement. The first piano trio, Op. 6/1, begins with a lyrical movement composed in a simple three-part form with a developing middle section and a climax in the recapitulation. The second movement is dance-like and fun. With its polyphonic elements and variable form throughout, it is very reminiscent of a canon.
