Work & Edition Details
Written for Vera Hofman & Sjors van der Mark (The Hair) I recently met a person who stuttered when speaking, but not when singing. Speaking and singing are skills that we learn at some point of our lives by copying, memorizing, and mastering actions of others. Why don't people who stutter do so when singing? And how would stuttering sound in my music? For that purpose I sliced and diced a song into pieces and then reassembled it in a different order. While the flute is stammering its way through the melody, the electric guitar moves along – be it in slow motion. Stutter is based on the material of Lacrimosa in Memorial Park.
