Work & Edition Details
Prokofiev's Cello Sonata in C major, Op. 119, was composed in 1949. He was inspired to write a cello sonata when he attended a concert where Mstislav Rostropovich performed Nikolai Miaskovsky's Cello Sonata No. 2 in A minor the same year.
Sergej Prokofjew komponierte die Cellosonate in C-Dur, op. 119 im Jahr 1949. Er wurde zu einer Cellosonate durch einen Konzertbesuch inspiriert, bei dem Mstislav Rostropovich Nikolai Miaskovskys Cellosonate Nr. 2 in a-Moll aufführte.
