Work & Edition Details
PDS40 is a beautiful ballad, comprising two sections which in effect are a verse and chorus. The theme is initially stated in harmonically adventurous block writing, before a simply-stated melody is introduced over a bell-effect colour. On both occasions the verse leads to a stirring chorus, which is followed by a brief coda.
