Work & Edition Details
"Concert Secret may have many adjectives due to the deep emotional connection with Carles Riba 's poetry, but I would say that Ximo found a beautiful balance between passion, energy, drama and placidity. The way the orchestration is formulated is the most special element in the composition. The combination of strings, woodwinds and percussion combines perfectly with the harp and, not so common the orchestral instrument, the harpsichord, producing a very colorful atmosphere. The other element that I really love in the piece is the ambiguity present in the saxophone solo part, which travels between vibrant virtuoso motifs and very sad and distressed lines. It's an honor to premiere such a piece as this, which I think is a great contribution to the saxophone repertoire."
