Work & Edition Details
This set of variations op. 20 by Sor was first published in Paris in 1824. It is based on the same theme as a “Thema Varié” published by Castro in 1810 or shortly before (it is in Nkoda in this present edition). The theme is not unlike “Ein Mädchen oder Weibchen” from the Magic Flute.
Variation 3, bar 55, second chord, the original has G double sharp, here changed to G natural (and a G sharp at the next chord).
This edition comes from the new 2019 second edition of Sor’s New Complete Works for Guitar edited by Brian Jeffery. The Introduction and Index to the entire series are here in nkoda.
