Work & Edition Details
The one-movement composition "Prière du soir (Romance sans paroles)" for violoncello and piano was mentioned for the first time on a concert program from Monday, August 13, 1866, designated as a farewell concert. The soloist Carl Loeper performed the piece in the "Cercle" hall of the city of Luxembourg. It is not known which farewell concert it was; however, it could have been an event in the context of the - for Luxembourg peaceful - dissolution of the German Confederation, which took place in the summer of the same year and at which German military musicians gave their farewell performance.
