Camille Saint-Saëns composed his Cello Concerto No. 1 in A minor (Op. 33) in 1872. The piece was written for the French cellist Auguste Tolbecque. Today, the concerto has grown in popularity and is one of the most famous works for the cello.
Camille Saint-Saëns komponierte sein Konzert für Violoncello und Orchester Nr. 1 a-Moll op. 33 im Jahr 1872. Er schrieb das Stück für den französischen Cellisten Auguste Tolbecque und widmete es ihm auch. Diese Fassung für Cello und Klavier stammt vom Komponisten selbst. Heute erfreut sich das Konzert großer Beliebtheit und ist eines der berühmtesten Werke für das Cello.
