Work & Edition Details
Handel completed the work, commissioned by Queen Mary (Stuart) of England for the then-anticipated peace treaty with France, on January 14, 1713. The peace celebration took place on July 7 at St. Paul's Cathedral, where Handel's Te Deum was premiered along with his 100th psalm, Jubilate. The work was later referred to as the 'Utrecht Te Deum'.
