Work & Edition Details
The first time I played Mozart’s Adagio and Fugue was in Carnegie Hall. I was 21 years old. Our string orchestra was put together with music college students from all over the US during a week around Christmas for what was called ‘The Christmas Seminar’. The conductor was Casals’ friend Alexander Schneider, Sasha, who, of course, had been a member of the legendary Budapest String Quartet. We revered him. Such was the introduction by this great musician to Mozart’s masterpiece, that it has remained with me since.
