Work & Edition Details
This cantata for Epiphany is rich in content and carried by true religiousness. The choir setting points in characteristic traces to Händel. The following aria shows the austere, cautious and mature style of Briegel’s old age. The cantata is not difficult to perform. In the first part, the choir sings a text from Isaiah 60. The following aria of the bass uses the text of the fourth and fifth stanza of Johann Christoph Arnschwangers (1625–1696) chant ‘Nun, liebe Seele, nun ist’s Zeit“.
