Work & Edition Details
On the passion of Jesus Christ according to Markus. The small oratorio is oriented towards Schütz's Passions in its structure and in the type of sound speech. For this reason, the soliloquents can also stand in the chorus and participate there if they are not busy as soloists. Unlike Schütz, a certain indifference to the whole event is intended as an expressive moment. Through canonically intertwining metrical superimpositions, the impression is of a gently rippling melancholic band of sound that carries the textual content along with it.
