Work & Edition Details
Published in Paris in 1831, these Six Valses op. 44 bis by Sor for two guitars are dedicated to “Mademoiselle Lira”, presumably the daughter of José de Lira, a Spaniard living in Paris and a friend of Sor. The original title was Six valses pour deux guitares faciles et progressives et soigneusement doigtées (Six waltzes for two guitars, easy, progressive and carefully fingered). This edition comes from the new 2019 second edition of Sor’s New Complete Works for Guitar edited by Brian Jeffery. The Introduction and Index to the entire series are here in nkoda.
