Work & Edition Details
The arrangement presented here is based on the Concerto in D minor for violin and strings by the recently rediscovered Ingolstadt composer Joh. Paul Schiffelholz (1685-1758). The marginal voices of the original, Violino principale and Violoncello & Organo are retained as far as possible, as is the contrast in instrumentation and dynamics authentically indicated by ripieno [tutti] and solo or also forte and piano, with a two-manual organ primarily in mind. A setup for a three-manual instrument can be made without further ado.
