Work & Edition Details
Under the title "Musicalischer Seelen-Friede... bestehend in zwanzig Stücken á 3/ Voce sola, mit ein und zwey Violinen. Theils obligat, theils aber beneplacito" Johann Philipp Krieger's only print of sacred vocal music appeared in 1697. With these concertos Krieger directly prepares the great, formally self-contained solo vocal forms of the 18th century. In their musical variety and liveliness, the sacred concertos are an excellent addition to the repertoire in church services and concerts.
