Work & Edition Details
The music to Portrait of a Lover was taken from the Accordion Concerto, from 2016. Yet the solo scoring of Portrait means that the music alters its character and emotional expression. The work’s title suggests a specific representation of an imagined figure with two faces: one energetic, aggressive and calling for help, the other lyrical and singing. An interpretation of this work should take the utmost account of those two contrasting sides to the heroine of Portrait. In the present edition, all the indications regarding bellow technique were consulted with Maciej Frąckiewicz, who was the first performer of the work.
