Work & Edition Details
This composition is based on the variety of sounds and rhythmic motives of my "canine friend Zazu". The main mission is to represent all its characteristic sounds such as growls, its accelerated breathing, ear-slapping, steps, etc. and overall Zazu's particular way of barking; barks from the main rhythmic motive are developed throughout piece (5+7+3). This piece supposes a challenge to be accepted by the player, confronted by the different combinations of meter, extreme dynamics, technical challenges and all the different sounds and effects produced by the snare drum, utilizing the different playing areas of the drum, as well as different drumsticks and beaters.
