This manual is intended for adult students, both amateurs and future professionals. Three volumes corresponding to the three cycles of a complete training are planned. Each volume is divided into four complementary sections: 1. Rhythm | 2. Intonation and Intervals | 3. Harmony and Improvisation | 4. Analysis and Interpretation The sections should be approached simultaneously, the progression being able to coincide from one section to another. This book was written by Marguerite Labrousse and Jean-Paul Despax, professors of musical training at the CRR in Paris, based on their teaching of singing classes. The objectives of this manual are:- rigorous and systematic training in intonation and the main musical languages encountered in the vocal repertoire (tonality, modality, atonality, serialism, etc.) ...)- a complete rhythmic training focused on the specificities of vocal music (prosodies in different languages, types of vocal and instrumental writing)- an initiation to the main tools of analysis (phraseology, tonal and harmonic analysis, structures and forms... Intonation and Intervals- Intonation exercises to be read and sung, then written and sung- Intervals to be read and sung (varying keys, weaves, accidentals, rhythms...) - Extracts from the repertoire allowing direct practice of intonation work.3. Harmony and Improvisation-The main chords are first presented in a theoretical way, in connection with the work on intervals.then various exercises are proposed for improvisation and writing, such as obstinate basses, improvised counterpoint or musical phrases, all in connection with a style or an author.4.
