Work & Edition Details
For me, water has always been a beautiful metaphor for music. Sometimes it flows quickly, sometimes slowly. Sometimes it's turbulent, sometimes quiet. When I think about turquoise water, I think about the warm water of the Caribbean, or the warm, radiant water around the Greek islands. The same applies to my new composition for violin and piano, specially composed for Pauline Terlouw. It will be a warm, radiant composition, bathing the listener in quiet waves. Floating on the harmonies in the piano part, the violin sings an ode to this colour, the colour of change, a lust for life and invention.
