Work & Edition Details
Since 1968, many clarinetists have learned to play their instrument by using Ewald Koch's "Schule für Klarinette". Many tips and suggestions received over the years have prompted the author and the publisher to produce a thorough revision, allowing the solid landmark work to continue setting standards also in the 21st century. The method's stylistic spectrum is broad: next to classical and contemporary works, the volume also includes international folklore, including blues and spirituals, Klezmer and Latin music. The book has many duets, which make it particularly well suited to group instruction. Volume 1 offers 27 popular pieces for clarinet and piano which can be downloaded by using the QR code included in this edition. These pieces illustrate the entire stylistic range between Baroque and Pink Panther. They have been recorded in two versions: one is an aural document presenting the complete work; the other features only the piano accompaniment, which lets the clarinetist supply the missing part on his own.
