Work & Edition Details
Until the late 20th century, Schubert's most popular “Youth Mass” was often performed with strings alone. However, in the 1980s, a set of parts written by Franz Schubert himself, including trumpets and timpani, was rediscovered in Klosterneuburg, a 12th-century Augustinian monastery in Austria. The parts have been evaluated for the first time in this Urtext edition and thus made available for performance. Also included are the oboes and bassoons, which were added later by Schubert's brother Ferdinand.
