Work & Edition Details
During a joint concert tour through South America in 1997, my daughter Agnes was inspired by the unique landscape of the Strait of Magellan to write the poem "Crossing to Tierra del Fuego". I was immediately fascinated by this poem and for my part I tried to capture the personally made experiences and impressions of this landscape with my musical language. In doing so, I strove to do justice to the poem's characteristic sparseness, concentration on the essentials, and omission of anything superfluous. In the present chamber music version, this composition was performed repeatedly and left a deep and lasting impression on listeners and performers alike. May the printed version now enjoy the same success.
