Work & Edition Details
Fa La Ninna by Judith Bingham is a ten-minute set of pieces for soprano and harp based on traditional Italian nursery songs “in their landscapes”. The work begins and ends with solo harp movements, and the three intervening songs cover themes of family, food, childhood fears and falling sleep. Bingham’s setting of the texts is colourful and evocative and the vocal lines capture the essence of the Italian text.
The second song, ‘Mie Mamma Matta Matta’ features a folk tune from Genoa. The songs and harp solos may be performed individually.
