Work & Edition Details
The Mass op. 20 in G major for male choir with organ accompaniment was composed by Laurent Menager between March and April 1865 and was probably his best-known and most popular mass of the genre during his lifetime. The accompanying organ part gives the work a particularly attractive sound. In this combination it is an eloquent testimony to the music-making practice in the Catholic church music of Luxembourg in the late 19th century. Accents are set by interspersed solos, which can be realized from within the choir.
